What is your professional background like?

In 2014, I successfully completed my bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering at the Ruhr University in Bochum and in 2016 my master's degree. During this time, I already gained professional experience as a working student in the area of quality management at another company. In June 2015, I started my job as a working student in the research and development department of phenox. There I could already participate in various projects. At the same time, I wrote my master's thesis in cooperation with the Chair of Materials Science at the Ruhr University Bochum and phenox. Subsequently, I was taken on as an engineer in quality management.

In 2020, I moved from the quality management department to purchasing, where I now hold a leading management position in the Purchasing department. Since 2019, I have also been studying part-time and doing my MBA.

Why did you choose phenox as an employer?

During my master's degree, I took a course taught by phenox CEO Dr. Monstadt. We got into a conversation and after an interview I got the working student job. Besides my interest in innovative products, I was especially convinced by the personality of the two managing directors during the interview.

What is your daily work routine like?

Due to the dynamic nature of phenox, there is no classic daily work routine. Of course, there are processes that repeat themselves regularly, such as checking the current inventory; evaluating current complaints or the daily assessment of the latest local and global news. But priorities change on a perceived weekly basis. And that is one of the main reasons why I like phenox so much!

What exciting projects are you working on right now?

A large and exciting project is currently the changeover to a new ERP system. Purchasing naturally plays a very important role here and must adapt to many new processes. The challenge here is to train the employees sufficiently for this, but at the same time to keep the operational business alive.

What is the biggest challenge in your work?

The biggest challenge of my job is to manage a purchasing department that has to meet our internal requirements on the one hand and external regulatory requirements such as ordinances or accounting requirements on the other.

What three terms come to mind when you think of phenox and why?

1. Innovative:We always design our products according to the latest technological standards. The development of our own groundbreaking technologies is essential in this regard. Research and development is therefore one of the key areas in our company.

2. Dynamic: phenox observes and reacts very quickly to what is happening in the market. This creates a certain dynamic that has a direct impact on my daily work.

3. Fair: At phenox each employee is given the opportunity to prove himself, to take a clear position in the company and to develop himself further.

What role does teamwork play at phenox?

Having a harmonious team is, of course, a basic requirement for achieving one's goals. A team must understand the meaning of its work and share a common vision. To do this, people must trust each other within the team. It is important that every team member gets the chance to contribute and grow personally. Therefore, I believe in a 360° feedback culture. I am convinced that good teamwork helps to achieve personal goals in line with company goals.

What excites you most about phenox?

I am inspired by my colleagues at phenox. And by that I mean every single one of them, whether they've been with us from the beginning or are new to the phenox family. Whoever identifies with the company, openly addresses problems and makes suggestions for improvement to move the company forward belongs here. I enjoy working with these personalities very much!

What do you look forward to most when you come to work?

I just look forward to everything and everyone! I love the company and am happy to be a part of the phenox success story!
